Types Of Safari
-
The most successful safaris are those which have a mixture of tented camp with lodge. The reason is the pleasant variation of moving from the more rustic semi-permanent tented camps to the permanent lodges which typically have more facilities like swimming pools and are usually equipped with extra’s like fans, hair dryers and all day battery charging (but not always). The general pattern is to spend three nights in each camp which allows for two full days spent out in the “bush” discovering the wildlife and area. Spending just one or two nights means you have less chance to soak up the atmosphere, get to know the guides or unpack your bags. More to the point, you’re still spending just as much on the transfers which are the same cost no matter how long you stay at the camp. We tend to vary a dry land camp with a water-based camp to which gives a changing pattern of scenery and species of wildlife. Hippopotamus and crocodiles will not be seen inland and neither will many of the great and glorious water birds. Its also fun to add a night or two of fly camping or mobile safari if you want to really feel the bush but still have the comfort of knowing you're not "roughing" it for too long.

It is safe, fun and rewarding to travel with children to Africa's natural places. Parents can experience the look of wonder and excitement on young one's faces as they lay eyes on a giraffe for the first time or make new friends in an African village. &Beyond promises a family safari of a lifetime.
Many lodges offer a host of fascinating and entertaining activities for children from as young as five, bringing alive the magic of safari. Every minute is supervised by rangers and camp staff, who provide hours of amusement and invaluable information to the children in their care.
Our specially designed children's programmes teach children to appreciate and preserve our planet. Each child receives an &Beyond Planet Manager Eco-Guide - a unique booklet guiding children on how to protect our planet's precious natural resources in a fun, interactive way. Rangers help children complete their Eco-Guides, collect pods, feathers, bugs and leaves, and teach them to identify various animal species.

There is something timeless about the ancient drama of wild places, a magic and mystique about Africa that touches the soul and creates memories that can never be forgotten. At &Beyond we create intimate moments in breathtaking locations to be shared and celebrated for a lifetime together. Wrapped in palpable romance, a honeymoon or a wedding among the incredible wildlife and warm people of &Beyond will enchant the soul of any couple.
Unforgettable memories are made in Africa - from a classic Out of Africa wedding in the open bushveld or a sunset ceremony on a riverbank to an intimate ritual on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, ankle-deep in rose petals. Honeymoons are just as unforgettable. Couples will always remember their hot air balloon safari over the Masai Mara at dawn, listening to lions roar as the sun slips under the African horizon or gazing up at a dense, starry African sky.

On the vast open plains of the Serengeti and deep into the rolling hills of the Masai Mara the largest animal herds on the planet move in a never-ending natural pattern in response to an undeniable imperative - the need to find fresh, nourishing grazing. Known as the Great Migration, this exceptional natural phenomenon is renowned as Africa’s greatest wildlife spectacle. With numbers too vast to imagine, over two million animals, most of them wildebeest, participate in this spectacular cycle. The thundering hooves of the herds and the enormous clouds of fine red dust they leave in their wake have become an icon of East African safari. Filled with dramatic encounters, this incredible journey takes the herds across fast-flowing rivers inhabited by some of Africa’s largest crocodiles, and plains filled with predators. Experience the wonder and immensity of the Great Migration on the vast plains of the Serengeti or in the spotted land of the Masai Mara. Imagine a breakfast on the open plains, surrounded by thousands of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle, peacefully grazing as far as the eye can see. Witness great numbers of wildebeest calves being born within the space of a few weeks or watch in breathless wonder as the massed herds plunge into the swirling waters of the Mara or Grumeti Rivers. Whether on the move or quietly grazing the lush, green pastures, an encounter with the thundering herds of the Great Migration remains an experience never to be forgotten.
