Countries

Here is our list of countries where you can go on a safari.
  • South Africa

South Africa is a great choice, especially for those going on their first safari. Access is easy as there are direct flights from Athens to Johannesburg. Here you can easily enrich your experience with a visit to Cape Town. You can also tour the Garden Rout on the southern coast of the country, or take a trip on the legendary Blue Train which runs from Pretoria (near Johannesburg) to Cape Town.

As for safaris, South Africa is renowned for the world famous Kruger National Park which is unique in its size, beauty and variety of wildlife. However, the Eastern Coast, which is malaria free and the Madikwe Game reserve near Botswana are also worth considering and are particularly appropriate for families.

  • Tanzania

Tanzania is a country of many colors: the lush green of the Ngorogoro Crater, the earthy shades of the Serengeti, the white peaks of Mount Kilimandjaro, the blue seas of Zanzibar. The choices in Tanzania are immense. Here you can combine your safari with a beach holiday or even climb Mount Kilimanjaro.

Tanzania is home to the Serengeti, which is renowned for its vast landscape and prolific wildlife. Here, every year, the largest animal migration on the planet takes place: in April, around 2 million animals travel North to the Mountain plains and return south in October. This is arguably the most impressive sight in the world of safaris and the best way to take advantage of it is by traveling with a mobile tented camp.

  • Kenya

Kenya is best known for the Masai Mara: a huge land area of wide open spaces with savannas, lakes and mountains. Located north of the Serengeti, it is home to the Great migration in the months of July to September.

Here you will also discover the Great Rift Valley and you will have the opportunity to relax in one of the beautiful resorts on the Indian Ocean.

  • Botswana

Imagine a country the size of France with a population the size of Paris. It is enormous and it is empty. A natural habitat untouched by civilization. Here you will find the Okovango Delta, the biggest in-land delta in the world, teeming with natural life. Botswana is also home to the Chobe national park, which has some of the largest concentrations of game in Africa with elephant herds reaching up to 500 in size.

These game reserves also offer some of the most luxurious safari lodges to be found anywhere in Africa and the number of visitors is strictly limited by law.

It is for all these reasons that some people consider Botswana to be the ultimate safari destination.

  • Zambia

Zambia is the undiscovered treasure trove of Africa. It shelters extraordinary natural beauty and is one of the most pristine and unspoiled wilderness areas on the continent. It is easy to see why Zambia boasts one of the largest areas of land under protection as a national park in Africa.

But it is the thundering miracle of the Victoria Falls that draws most visitors to this gentle and peaceful country. Less frequented than Zimbabwe, many travellers prefer to see the falls from the Zambian side and some claim the views are even more spectacular.

  • Namibia

Namibia is a unique safari destination. Here you will discover some of the wildest contrasts to be found anywhere on the African continent.
In the North of the country lies the Etosha National Park with its dry plains teeming with wildlife including elephants, zebras, Giraffes, kudus, lions and Hyenas.

In the center of the country lies the barren Namib Desert with its enormous sand dunes and gravel plains. In the Western region, you will find the Skeleton coast bordering the Atlantic Ocean, which is renowned for its marine wildlife and shipwrecks dotted all over the coastline.

In addition, you can combine a trip to Namibia while visiting the neighboring Botswana. Such a trip certainly represents one of the ultimate African safaris.

  • Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls is one of the world's greatest natural spectacles.

Declared a World Heritage Site, the Victoria Falls are shrouded in legends, romance and myth. Long before the Scottish missionary and explorer Dr. David Livingstone 'discovered' the Falls in 1855, the local Batonga people had named them Mosi-oa-Tunya, 'the smoke that thunders'. Livingstone named the falls for his queen, Queen Victoria.

Today, Victoria Falls village rightly claims the title of Adrenaline Capital of Africa, home to a seemingly endless variety of adventure sports, from bungee jumping to canoeing and whitewater rafting.

  • Malawi

Malawi is often described as ‘The Heart of Africa’. Indeed this beautiful land-locked country is renowned for the friendliness and easygoing nature of its locals. The best known –and most striking feature- of this country is Lake Malawi which covers 1/5 of the country. The crystal-clear waters, the white sand beaches and the multi-colored fish create a unique atmosphere.
Malawi’s largest natural reserve is Nyika National Park in the North of the country where you can enjoy activities such as horse-riding, mountain biking and fishing. The best national park however is Liwonde, which is located in Sothern Malawi. Here you will see hippopotamus, crocodiles, elephants and some of the most varied bird species in all of Africa.
Most people however come to Malawi to get a genuine taste of the African continent. The rolling country sides, the savannas, the village located on the hills and lakes… The possibilities are endless, and since the official language is English, everything is accessible.
Here you will discover the heart of Africa.

  • Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe is a land-locked country blessed with fertile soils, mineral wealth and wonderful scenery. Destinations like Victoria Falls, Hwange National Park and Mana Pools are world-renowned and the country is blessed with diverse habitats, from the granite hills of the Matopos to the majestic mountains, lush forests and beautiful rivers of the Eastern Highlands. As such, there is much to attract the traveller, from wildlife viewing and adrenalin adventures to delving into the history of the Zimbabwean people going back thousands of years.

  • Mozambique

The pearl of the Indian Ocean, Mozambique boasts 2 500 km (1 550 miles) of pristine beachfront on the mainland, with a string of beautiful and idyllic tropical islands, glittering like jewels in the warm, azure waters of the Indian Ocean. Soft, white sand beaches lined with coconut palms stretch as far as the eye can see.

Mozambique has remained an exclusive destination, as many of its islands and mainland beaches are isolated and secluded, offering travellers the ultimate escape. There are no golf courses or shopping malls here, but the unspoiled natural beauty and rich marine life has pushed the country to the top of the list for honeymooners, scuba divers and water sport fanatics.
