Is a safari dangerous?
Safaris are generally very safe. The animals are simply not interested in 4 x 4 jeeps as they are neither enemies nor prey. In addition, as the safari lodges are literally in the middle of no where, the risk of crime is extremely remote.
The countries where we organize safaris, such as South Africa, Botwana, Tanzania and Namibia are politically stable and regularly welcome large numbers of visitors.
How many days do I need?
It is generally recommended that you take at least 8 days, including travel time.
Do I need vaccinations?
Certain countries, such as Tanzani and Kenia require a certificate that you have received the yellow fever vaccination, and this needs to be done at least 10 days before departure. It is also recommended that you ensure that your usual vaccinations, such as polio, are up to date.
In addition some safari areas require protection from Malaria. There is no vaccination against Malaria, but there are anti-malaria pills: Malarone and Lariam. The first pill needs to be taken 1 week before departure.
Do I need special equipment?
There are 2 pieces of equipment which are useful: good binoculars and a high-quality camera (ideally with a powerful zoom). Otherwise make sure you have a good hat to protect you from the sun as well as sun-block.

Are safaris fun for children?
Young children can easily get bored and may not enjoy the discipline of sitting down for hours. In fact, many game reserves have an age minimum. However, there are specialized safari lodged for families. Here the game-drives will be shorter, there will be specialized actives and it will be all right to run around and make noise in the lodge.
How does a safari work?
You will be taken either by small plane or by car to the safari lodge. Here you will be welcomed and shown to your accommodation.
How much does it cost?
Package prices including flights start at around 1600 euros per person for 7 nights. As you go up-market, so the prices increase accordingly.
When is the best time to go on a safari?
Each country is different when it comes to the best travel times.South Africa: the best time is during the South African winter (May to September). Temperatures in the summer time can get quite hot.Kenya: the weather is warm all year round. There are 2 rain seasons: the long rains from April to June and the short rains from October to December. The warmest temperatures are in February to March and the coolest from July to August.
